Many businesses and corporations are recognising the need to have staff wellbeing programs. Staff are usually a company’s biggest asset and low morale or mental health at a worksite can have a crippling effect on your business.
Have you discovered that working with other people can be both extremely rewarding and satisfying, whilst at the same time difficult, frustrating and even leave you feeling disillusioned?
Interpersonal workplace situations can be the sole cause of dysfunction. Overcoming it successfully is essential.
What’s The Issue?
Some of the reasons why is because we all have our own buttons that people press, we all have our own worldview that is normally unique to anyone else, we all have different levels of expectation, feel threatened and fearful of different things, communicate in different ways and carry different unspoken assumptions.
So how do we go about building strong and effective teams, working with others in harmony, pulling together to get the job done and overcoming the above issues?
Traditionally, team building and self-esteem type activities have been used by organisations. Whilst these have their place and certainly provide benefit to participants, they don’t actually get down to the real issues in people’s lives.
Why do business/company/organisation training seminars need to get to the real issues? The reason is because people’s real issues – which is their mental and emotional health – are what employees bring with them every single day of their working life. The things that trigger their buttons are the same or similar at work as they are at home.
What’s The Answer?
Until people have a thorough and accurate understanding of how they work, they can’t even begin to try and understand others. Therefore, education on mental and emotional health of self is the first step in building effective teams and workplace satisfaction.
Once individuals understand how they work and what they need to work on personally, they begin to have the capacity to see that others are, in fact, working through similar issues.
Topics
Each business and its requirements is unique, but the essential topics to be covered are:
> Fundamentals of mental and emotional health
> Negotiation and assertiveness skills
> Boundaries – including self and other awareness
> Assumptions and king lies
> You and your unbearable feeling
> Survival kits and crazy makers
> Honesty, truth and the lies about them
Aim
The concept here is quite simple – we need to do some self-analysis and begin to understand how we tick, why we respond to circumstances in certain ways and become equipped with skills and tools to re-evaluate them and where necessary call them redundant and acquire new methods. It all starts and ends with a better understanding of ourselves as individuals.
