Conflict Resolution.

When a person lacks skills in this area, life can really be tough. In fact, it often feels like the whole world is against you. Often in times of conflict, a person’s buttons and bruises (we call them unbearable feelings) are pushed, resulting in some sort of retaliation. (This retaliation could be active and confrontational, or may be passive, seething and internalised). Inevitably, this retaliation results in escalation. Of course, we all know the end of the story here – the original conflict wasn’t resolved and now there’s probably more.
A big factor in resolving conflict is having appropriate assertiveness skills. Part of this is knowing how to set boundaries as well as to learn how to avoid second-guessing the other person’s response. Assertiveness also involves being assured as a person. For more information see assertiveness.
