Isn’t going to counselling a sign of weakness?

This is certainly the viewpoint many in our society take. But consider this – do you try to conduct a root canal treatment on yourself, or do you see a specialist? Do you pull apart your gearbox if things seem to be clunking or do you take it to a trained person? Do you rewire a house, with no idea of the difference between positive, negative and earth?
Why then would you believe that you could fix your own mental and emotional issues by yourself? When you consider that your mind follows you everywhere you go, and the state of its healthiness reflects in every area of your life, why wouldn’t you go and see someone with training to help you?
Opting to avoid going to a counselling session is taking the easy way out and is really a sign of weakness. Choosing to confront the issues in your life is a sign of strength as well as maturity. Which will you choose?
