As with the other non-specific topics of counselling, couples who come for therapy may head down many and varied paths. Some common areas of counselling though can include trust, effective communication, re-igniting the passion, negotiation skills, false assumptions, speaking the truth (assertiveness), money/finances, expectations and sexual issues.
Depending on the circumstances, counselling may remain as a couple, or it may be best to spend a session or two apart. The aim would be to restore and rebuild whatever may have been broken and get the relationship back on a positively functioning level.
