Who Needs Counselling?

Many people mistakenly believe that only people who are depressed, going through some sort of traumatic ordeal or someone who is clearly mentally disturbed need counselling. However, given that everyone has formed assumptions and beliefs, from their childhood onwards, and many of these assumptions are in fact false, everybody therefore can benefit from counselling. For some it may only be a single session to resolve something, or become more aware of a certain way of thinking in their life, for others it may be a little longer.

If you're serious about understanding yourself, your spouse or partner, friends, family, colleagues, then counselling would benefit you, no doubts at all.

When you think about it, since our mind controls pretty much all that we do, why wouldn't you want to have a checkup on it every once in a while? People cannot generally self-diagnose, because of something called blind spots.

People routinely get their cars serviced, so that it runs as designed. Also too their computers, so that no extra ‘baggage’ (eg viruses, preferences, caches) slow it down or cause the operating system to become unstable. Isn’t your mind more important than these things?
